APPEAL FOR HELP TO RECONSTRUCT THE CHURCHES
AND THE MONASTERIES IN THE DALMATIAN DIOCESE

Dear brothers and sisters,

You are not unfamiliar with the fact that the Serbian Orthodox Church in Dalmatia lives crucified on the cross together with its people, who were brutally persecuted from their agelong hearths in the well-known military action Oluja.
Namely, most of our churches and monasteries have been badly devastated and they need an urgent repair. However, we have already started to reconstruct monasteries Krka, Krupa and Dragovic (all of them from the 14th century). The partial reconstruction of the Holy Three Hierarchs Semminary in monastery Krka had taken place; and in 2001 the semminary started with its work. At the moment, it is the only Serbian Orthodox School in the Republic of Croatia.
Adding to this, in the following places the rebuilding of many parish churches has begun: Kistanje, Imotski, Padjeni, Golubic, Djevrske, Cista Mala, Zadar, Split, Cetina, Vrlika and Sibenik. Episcopal Residency in Šibenik has also undorgone certain renovation.
Being aware of your deep care for the churches in Dalmatia, we plead for help, remembering the evangelic words - it is more blessed to give than to take.
Formerly illustrious and prosperous Dalmatian Diocese is now, perhaps, going through the most difficult time in its history.
However, we hope that by God's help and your fraternal care and love, we will manage to preserve the dignity of the Orthodox Faith and its sanctuaries in Dalmatia; and remain the witnesses of the Truth of the Holy Orthodoxy in this much suffering region.
